Work hard!
I got here by working hard.
Hard work is everything.

But what exactly is hard work nowadays. Surely it can't be harder than the work my grandfather did in a quarry?

That's what this post dives into in detail.

Procrastination has its costs. When we don't start early, we are protecting our ego. How?

If we actually started early and did our best, and then found out our best was not that great, it would hurt psychologically.

So we start late, and then we have an excuse:
Well, if only I started earlier, it would have been so much better!

Of course, this results in a poor quality of work, delivered right before a deadline, after a stressful 8 hour rush.

This traps us in a cycle of mediocrity, and weneverdo our best.Over time, this is much worse than giving your best and it falling short. It leads to long term regret, lower self-esteem, and poor results overall.

Quick tip

Since this is the first edition of this new format, let's go back to basics.

If you can see your phone on your desk while working, you're setting a trap for yourself.

You're making it too easy to tap it and check if there are new emails, messages, etc.

Create this habit:
When you sit down to work, look around. If your phone is within easy reach, take it, and put it in a drawer or on a high shelf.

This really couldn't be simpler, but it is effective. It's often one of the first things we tell our clients 1-on-1. Simple things done consistently make a big difference.

Use the Rule of 3 Senses: keep your phone out of sight, out of reach, and out of hearing (Do Not Disturb/Focus Mode).

If you need your phone for 2 Factor Authentication or testing of some sort, the main thing is to keep it out of sight. You can put it behind your laptop screen, for example.

The goal is to make easy distractions harder, so that you use technology deliberately, instead of compulsively.

Thank you and reply to this email if you have any questions, or any comments about this new format.

Thank you.

Have a productive week!
